Scanning with the IR2230 copier

For your first time scanning, see

installing Software to use the Scanner/Copier in 203 (another page)

Put the scannner "on-line"

When the ImageRunner is "on-line" it's waiting for network functions (printing & scanning) but must be off-line to copy or send a fax.

place your originals & go back to your computer

Start the program you wish to scan from, and start a scan

  • MS Word or Powerpoint: insert | picture | from scanner or camera…
  • Image editor: Photoshop : (insert instructions here)
  • Adobe Acrobat ($ version): create PDF from…scanner
  • etc.

The scanner window will come up. You'll probably want to change the following things (on the right side of the window)

  • change from black and white to half-tones if you are scanning an image
  • change feeder to platen if you've put your originals on the glass
  • change the resolution from 600dpi to 600dpi if you have lots disk space, patience, and want the highest quality image. This isn't necessary for powerpoint or web images unless you want to enlarge the image. It is not speedy.

Click "preview." You most likely don't want Black and White but gray scale. The preview looks much worse tha Click the selection box option (top left button) and draw a box around what you want.
