Exporting Data from DEPACT
DEPACT doesn't have an export feature and it's printing capabilities are primitive. But you can get information out of depact and into Excel or Word or PDF.
You can create PDF's of DEPACT reports to send over email, but you have to change your printer setup. This is a a required first step for exporting to MS Word or MS Excel.
0. You must have the capability to print to PDF using a paid version of adobe acrobat (standard or Pro) or the CutePDF program http://cutepdf.com to be able to 'print' to PDF.
1. change your printer setup: Click start, printers / faxes (or control panel | printers/fax ) until you see a list of your printers. Right click on the PDF printer and select "set as default."
2. Print the DEPACT report you want to export or save. Since the PDF printer is now the default, you should be asked for a file name and location to save this new PDF. Give it a new, informative name with the .pdf extension (suffix). The default name is "VisualFoxPro.pdf"
3. If you are using Acrobat, the file may open automatically for your to review. If not, open My computer and find the pdf file, open it ,and confirm it's what you want, if not, re-print.
4. When you are finished "printing" PDFs from DEPACT, open the printers/faxes window again, right click on your real default printer (laser printer, etc) and select "set as default"
export to MS Word
(If you ultimately want Excel, you must do this step first).
If you are using Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0 or higher, you can export to MS Word. The free CutePDF program does not have this capability. You can send the PDF to someone that does have Acrobat Standard/Pro.
Open the DEPACT-generated PDF, in the File menu select "save as…" Set the "File Type" to MS Word .doc. If you don't rename it, it will save as the same name but with a ".doc" extension.
Start MS Word and open this new file to see how it looks. Many reports will be rendered as Word tables, which is exactly what you want.
export to MS Excel
Once you've open the file in MS Word (see above) you can cut and paste any table or section of a table into MS Excel.
