What to do with old equipment (Salvage)

MSU Surplus comes to pickup equipment of any kind. You just have to fill out the form, and make the items accessible (e.g. in the hallway).

If the equipment was purchased on an MSU account and it still has value, you can ask for a credit before it goes to surplus, which requires an Equipment Transfer Notice form.

If you just want it gone, then fill out this web form to have it picked up:

http://surplus.msu.edu/pages/purf.asp

(The link on the MSU surplus site just says "PURF," which isn't really helpful!)

On the above form is written:

"An Equipment Transfer Notice (stores stock no. 140-2492) must be submitted for all inventoried items, and any items where a credit is requested."

An "inventoried item" is something that has one of the little foil stickers from MSU with a number on it.It used to be anything > $5000 but I'd bet it's higher now.
