Visiting Assistant Professor Stephen Thomas is featured in this week's State News for his award-winning on-line course.  Professor Thomas won a First Place award in the 2009 MSU AT & T Instructional Technology Competition for Best Fully Online Course for ISB 202: Applications of Organismal and Environmental Biology.

ISB 202 uses a friendly comic strip superhero professor and his sidekick, "Globie" (planet Earth) created by Thomas.  The course presents science topics using comics to help reduce the fear of science for students.  The comics are used as a vehicle for learning simple concepts and also for more complex material, along with simulations, multimedia lectures, activities, and discussion forums.
