BBC News - In Pictures: Family Matters to Hyenas


BBC News featured research by Doctoral Candidate Jennifer Smith, Zoology Professor Kay Holekamp and colleagues regarding their work on spotted hyenas joining forces to cooperatively form coalitions.  The article, published in the journal Behavioral Ecology, explains how coalitions allow hyenas to gain an evolutionary advantage by helping their relatives win fights and by reinforcing the status quo.  See the BBC story...
